Active Oceans comprises our sea lion pool, the largest in the UK, a seating arena for 400 and a penguin pool with underwater viewing.
At least twice a day the sea lions demonstrate their natural behaviours which are explained by their trainer or a member of our Education team. As the demonstration is so popular, we have to recommend getting there early to get a seat during school holidays. You’ll be amazed by the sea lions’ intelligence.
Our penguins are Magellanic, the only ones of their type in the UK. Popular with adults and children alike, these comical marine birds are amazing to watch under the water! They’re like little black torpedoes, but they do like to meet the kids through the glass.
