Blackpool Town Sustainable Palm Oil Community

We will be encouraging various types of businesses - all those that sell, serve, eat or deal with food - to contact their suppliers. This is to ensure all their suppliers are using Certified Sustainable Palm Oil only.

The destruction of forests and biodiversity in areas of Southeast Asia is largely due to unsustainable palm oil farms. They not only contribute to climate change but also impact the local wildlife. It is reported that orangutans will become extinct in the wild in less than 15 years due to unsustainable palm oil farms.

How does Blackpool become a Sustainable Palm Oil Town?

We need locally-based businesses to sign up! Your business can be a part of the hospitality sector, a workplace with a catering service, a school, a university, a football team or any other visitor attraction. You would be classed as one of Blackpool Zoo's CHAMPIONS. However, even if you are not directly involved in the industries identified above but want to get involved, then you could sign up to become one of our ambassadors.

There are a few simple steps to becoming a Blackpool Sustainable Palm Oil Champion...

Step 1 - Fill in our CSPO questionnaire, so we know you are serious in your CSPO pledge.

Step 2 - Make a small change, and check your products for the use of sustainable palm oil, we can provide a supplier questionnaire to be sent off, it's that simple.

Step 3 - Put a pledge on your website just letting all your customers know that you only source certified palm oil and commit to continuing to do so. This pledge can also be completed if you have started the process and have a target date to become certified Sustainable Palm Oil supplied.

Step 4 - Spread the word! This will be a great opportunity to show off what changes you are making for the environment.
