Nature Gardens
There are two designated sustainability gardens within the zoo, designed to create homes for native species and highlight sustainable gardening practices, such as growing our own fruit and vegetables for animal feed, animal enrichment and making compost.
Our Grounds Team collects tree leaves from the floor and composts them. Once they have been turned into mulch, it is great for growing plants in. We also use it as some enrichment for our animals. This reduces the amount of water we need to use and benefits our soil.
