Love Your Zoo this half term!

It’s the half term holidays, we’re getting an extra bank holiday courtesy of Her Majesty The Queen, Pride month is about to start and the sun is set to shine…..but that’s not all! 

Saturday 28th May sees the launch of Love Your Zoo week and we’ve got nine days of really wild fun planned for visitors.

You can get creative and help us to make tasty, Love,  Pride and Jubilee themed treats for our animals every single day. Rainbow fruit kebabs and heart shaped fire hose filled with our animals’ fave fancies are just two of the options on offer.

Look out for our Heart Selfie frame and get snapping to be part of our ‘love’ly photography competition. The best pics that are uploaded to socials with #loveyourzoo will be in with the chance of winning some fabulous prizes.

Let’s not forget our feathered friends as Tuesday 31st May is World Parrot Day! There will be special talks and activities taking place in our display arena, next to Lake View Restaurant, throughout the day. 

We will be wishing Her Majesty a very happy birthday on Thursday 2nd of June with a special trail fit for the queen. The royalty themed journey will take visitors on a journey to see some of our jungle VIPs. From our zoo Matriarch, Kate the Asian elephant to our right royal Emperor Tamarins, there are lots of stops on the way.  

It isn’t just Her Majesty who is celebrating a June birthday….ALL our Californian sea lions were also born in June and we will be marking each of their special days with some sensational sea lion enrichment.

For World Environment Day on Sunday 5th June there will be plenty of opportunities to learn, enjoy and discover at the conservation station. It will be packed with amazing artifacts and activities for all to enjoy.

Last, but certainly not least, zoo staff will be pedaling to protect in a mammoth spinning class to raise funds for various conservation programmes across the globe. 

The week-long party has something for everyone to enjoy and we look forward to seeing everyone having a great time!
